Tynker awesomeness in maths!

Tynker is a powerful drag and drop, block coding tool. It works on all devices and can code sphero, Drones and other devices. It has a great sharing community and projects can be embedded nicely like the one below. Tynker works particularly well with the iPad app but also in the browser across all platforms. You can create an account or log in with Google and you can create classes to share and collect projects. The community is great as well.
LOOK THE SUMMARY FOR NOW!!! is that it is a powerful flexible tool and for now here is an example of a project done in stage 3 and 4 (years 5-8) maths where the students quickly covered a huge amount of ground and the maths outcomes were profound. In the activity with all year 5 and 6 and then with classes of 7 and 8, students covered measurement of angles, length (in different units) and time, they worked seamlessly with directed numbers and the discovered angle properties normally only covered in higher years (exterior angles and angle sum of polygons) They also learnt about iterations and computational thinking and the outcomes were super! PLUS everyone had a ball. Programming Sphero and Parrot Drones to draw different shapes at the end was a great finale! STAY TUNED FOR MORE!
FOR NOW Read the post of the activity done with Gawura School Stage 3 with Scratch and Tynker before they then trained all the rest of stage 3. (it was pretty special)
Also here is Mr Kolbe’s finished project which now has nearly 250 000 views! (It is pretty exciting when projects get featured.)
